TWD was requested by GeoSea to design a piling template for driving piles at the Borkum West II offshore wind farm, located 45 km north of the island Borkum at the North-Western German coast.
During the pre-piling phase, 120 piles are installed at 40 wind-turbine locations. At each location 3 piles, with a diameter of 2.5 m and maximal lenght of 40 m, are driven into the seabed. The pre-piling installation works are performed from jack-up barge Goliath.

TWD designed a piling template that keeps the piles straight up within required accuracy during pile driving. The piling template is suspended by winches and can be lowered to the seabed or docked underneath the jack-up barge. After piling the template can be loosened from the piles with a specially designed hydraulic loosening system. The template is then lifted against the barge hull and the barge sails to the next location.

Besides a piling template, TWD has also completed the design of foundation structures, seafastening design of piles and project equipment, and the design of monitoring equipment.
